Cultural and Musical Contributions
The Quonset Auditorium venue attracted nationally known entertainers such as BB King, Tina Turner and others. The Quonset Auditorium was demolished in 1992 to make way for new buildings in the Shake Rag area. Reuben Crowdus, (1865-1909)-also known on stage as Ernest Hogan, was a Bowling Green native who was considered as the father of the ragtime musical genre in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
