State Street High School produced outstanding athletes who competed with other black high schools in Kentucky State Street High School produced 1944 national football champions among black high schools.
Jim McDaniels, recruited to play at Western Kentucky University from nearby Allen County-Scottsville High School, became a national standout in college, ABA and the NBA.
